Back Plates

Lets look at where the harddisk and the memory is and how we can get to them.

Disconnect your laptop from the power source and turn it over.

You will see the laptop has clearly marked plates that can be unscrewed. See the image for where each component sits.

Note that Philips type screws are used to hold each section in place. The HDD section has two screws and the memory has three.

Ensure you have the right size Phillips screwdriver or a computer tool kit to perform the job. Find a quiet place to work. Clean the mess on your worktable, those screws can get lost very quickly.

Before we go any further, switch the laptop off and disconnect the U400s battery. The laptop should now be switched off and without any power source.
