Screen Removal

Things get more tricky now. We are going to remove the touch screen.

It is held in place by two screws.

Once you open the screws the screw guards for the back plate will come out as well.

Hey thanks a lot for such a detailed explanation for dismantling Archos product. I have Archos 605 Wifi with a broken screen. Do you think I can replace the LCD screen with Sony PSP 4.3" 24 bit LCD screen?

I am not sure what the PSP screen is like. Is it the same size physically (I personally dont think so!) If so you might want to check if it has the same number of pins on the bus that connect it to the board as your Archos.

As far as I'm aware there are no software quirks Archos put in that would stop you from changing the screen (unlike the hard-drive).

If your existing Archos screen is already broken, there is no harm in trying as you cant break it further. Let us know the success of your endeavour.
