The hard drive is connected to an IDE (ZIF) slot on the circuit board.
It needs to be pulled out gently but firmly

Start by lifing the free end:
Hard drive disconnection

Hold the copper connector to avoid excessive stress on it and pull.
Hard drive disconnection

The disk should come out
Hard drive disconnection

Check all pins are intact and not bent
Hard drive pins

This is a standard 2.4 ATA-IDE port, it seems to be marked 1.2volts

The hard drive is a laptop PATA HDD, the capacity is shown as 80GB on the top right corner. The drive is being used in master mode.
